Completion and official commercial power generation of Kosy Bac Lieu wind power plant

On October 30, 2021, all turbines of Kosy Bac Lieu Wind Power Plant phase 1 – with a capacity of 40.5 MW, owned by Kosy Bac Lieu Wind Power Joint Stock Company – a member of Kosy Group investment, officially recognized commercial operation (COD). The event marks a strategic step forward for Kosy Group in the field of renewable energy.

Located in Hoa Binh district, Bac Lieu province, Kosy Bac Lieu Wind Power Plant project phase 1, invested by Kosy Bac Lieu Wind Power Joint Stock Company – a member of Kosy Group as an investor, has a total investment Investment over 1,600 billion VND, started construction from October 2020.

According to the Document number: 6699/EPTC-KDMD of the Electric Electric Power Trading Company (EVNEPTC) under the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), on October 30, 2021, all 9/9 wind turbine towers, including from WT02 to WT10. , belonging to the Kosy Bac Lieu Wind Power Plant, phase 1, has officially entered commercial operation (COD).

Previously, on September 28, 2021, all turbines of Kosy Bac Lieu Wind Power Plant completed installation and calibration testing. On October 21, 2021, the investor Kosy Group and the general contractors and related units successfully energised, safely connected the connection line and 220kV substation, 22kV feeders and all factory turbines. Simultaneously, the project documentation has been prepared, Kosy Bac Lieu Wind Power Plant has synchronized wind turbines, completing COD tests on October 27, 2021.

Kosy Bac Lieu Wind Power Plant Phase 1 is one of the projects recognized as COD, in the group of 106 wind power plants registered for testing. The project was recognized as a commercial operation date in the context that many investors are putting all their resources into projects for commercial operation before October 31, 2021 to enjoy the preferential price of 8.5 cents. /kWh (according to Decision 39/2018/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister).

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the factory in October 2020, Mr. Duong Thanh Trung, Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People’s Committee for the 2016-2021 term shared: “Kosy Group is the unit that has decided to add the following to the Power Plan VII, but is also the unit with the greatest determination to quickly start construction. The Group promises to generate commercial power for 1 year, which we consider a miracle because it usually takes 2-3 years. If it is completed on schedule for one year, we consider this a miracle.”

From the vast plots of land, interlaced with ponds, lakes, and canals, after a year, giant wind turbines have grown as high as the eye, the internal road is full of cars, the block of modern operators, the substation. surface pressure… Another onshore wind power plant has officially existed in Bac Lieu.

With the advantages of using clean energy to produce electricity, no greenhouse gas emissions, and no environmental pollution, Kosy Bac Lieu Wind Power Plant is in line with Bac Lieu province’s policy of economic development. economy and society in association with environmental protection. At the same time, the project contributes to meeting the electricity load growth demand of the province and the region.

After going into operation, the plant will provide an average annual electricity output of about 116.7 million kWh, contributing to meeting the demand for electricity load growth, ensuring energy security, contributing to local budget, create high-tech jobs, promote the socio-economic development of the region and the region.

The turbines of Kosy Bac Lieu wind power plant are fully supplied by Goldwind International Renewable Group – the world’s top 3 largest turbine manufacturers. This turbine is the latest 4.5 MW smart turbine line, suitable for the wind conditions in the region, with blade diameter of 155 m, tower height of 130 m for increasing power output. Goldwind Turbine uses permanent magnet technology with direct drive, no gearbox, thereby reducing operating costs, increasing power generation efficiency.

Besides, Kosy Group is constructing Pa Vay Su hydropower project (Lai Chau) – 50.5 MW, Muong Tung hydropower project (Dien Bien) – 32 MW; and is planning to implement the Kosy Bac Lieu Wind Power project phase 2 (50 MW), Binh Thuan Solar Power project (200 MW), other hydropower, wind and solar power projects… Besides, Kosy Group is preparing to invest in large-scale energy projects such as offshore wind power (1,000 MW) in Bac Lieu, stored energy (1,200 MW) in Lam Dong… and will implement those projects in the period of 2025 – 2030.
