Kosy
Nam Pac 1&2 Hydropower Plant
PROJECT OVERVIEW

Location: Nam Xe commune and Sin Sui Ho commune, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province, Vietnam

Total capacity: 34 MW

Total investment: 1,100 billion dong

Commencement: October 2018

Power generation: October 2021

Nam Pac Hydropower Plant is located in Nam Xe and Sin Sui Ho communes in Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province, with the border adjacent to China of more than 99km in length. It borders Yunnan – China to the north, Sin Ho district to the west, Bat Xat district – Lao Cai to the east, and Tam Duong district to the south.

Nam Pac 1 and Nam Pac 2 Hydropower Plants are designed and built in the form of pipeline hydropower. Construction scale includes 4 flood dams designed entirely by Gravity Reinforced Concrete Dam, with maximum dam height of 25m, withstanding earthquake level 7. Tunnel-water system, permanent reinforced concrete reinforcement combined with external open water transfer sections are steel pipes with withstanding high pressure, ensuring absolute safety for residents living in the downstream of the factory.

It is expected that, after complete construction, the factory will create an area of about 18 hectares of lake surface. This is a favorable factor creating conditions for the formation and development of cold water fish farming establishments, opening a new direction in the development of local cage fish farming.

Nam Pac 1 & 2 hydropower plant project cluster has a total installed capacity of 34 MW, with total investment of about 1,100 billion dong. It is expected that, upon complete construction and officially electricity generation, Nam Pac Hydropower Plant will provide the national power system with an average power output of about 150 million kWh/year, and will bring about 240 billion dong/year in revenue for the Employer and contribute to the local budget about 36 billion dong/year.

When Nam Pac Hydropower Plant is deployed and put into operation, the transport infrastructure system of nearly 40km of inter-communal and inter-district roads from Muong So town to Nam Xe and Sin Sui Ho communes will be upgraded, implemented extensive renovation and modernization by the Employer.
